THRE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES OF UNDERFLOOR HEATING SYSTEMS: ELECTIC AND HYDRONIC.
- ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING:
THIS SYSTEM USES ELECTRIC HEATING ELEMENTS, USUALLY IN THE FORM OF HEATING CABLES, OR MATS, INSTALLED BENEATH THE FLOOR. WHEN ELECTRICITY PASSES THROUGH TH EHEATING ELEMENTS, THEY GENERATE HEAT, WHICH WARMS THE FLOOR AND RADIATES UPWARDS TO HEAT THE ROOM. ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS TYPICALLY EASIER AND LESS EXPENSIVE TO INSTALL, BUT MORE COSTLY TO OPERATE THAN HYDRONIC SYSTEMS. - HYDRONIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING:
THIS SYSTEM UTILISES A NETWROK OF WATER PIPES INSTALLED UNDER THE FLOOR. HOT WATER FROM A CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM OR A DEDICATED BOILER CIRCULATES THROUGH THE PIPES, TRANSFERRING HEAT TO THE FLOOR AND SURROUNDING SPACE. HYDRONIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS KNOWN FOR IT’S ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CAN BE INTERGRATES WITH VARIOUS HEAT SOURCES INCLUDING GAS BOILERS, HEAT PUMPS OR SOLAR THERMAL SYSTEMS.
